Love ’em or hate ’em Harbor Freight tools are a bargain. But is it worth purchasing inexpensive hand tools that will be used and abused on a daily basis? Check out this video to see the pros and cons of this Pittsburgh 301 piece kit of hand tools to determine if they are right for you.
Ive had this tool set for almost 20 years. Its not a bad set, not a great set, but it gets the job done. Its a set I use to travel with vs tools i have in my tool box. Its been used on cars, suv, tucks, rv, trailers, boats, and even a small plane and helicopter.
The case is a package in form of a case is a bonus it can last you a bit and you save for those just needing the tools nobody should think its a loss if you want the item then you buy it this is mainly the tools youre buying not the case.
Great info thank you and will def be buying a set to load new tool chest.
As a DIY, I bought the $40 HF socket set, it’s a great starting point. I ditched a few of the standard and replaced them with metric the kit was lacking (21mm & 24mm). The dims were similar so they fit nicely in the case. Looking up the conversion between SAE and metric can salvage half the kit. Starting small allowed me to start wrenching with a low cost, I just bought wrenches, torques, triple square, etc sets separately (with the benefit of making sure they didn’t skip sizes) when the jobs demanded them. Overall cost is less than an all inclusive kit and it’s the tools I actually needed.
Are they still being used😊
